Security Forces build house for needy family

Under the direction of the Commander Security Forces – East, General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division and Commander 233 Infantry Brigade, the troops of ninth Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery constructed a house for an eight years old child (Nilusha Chamidukumara) who has lost his father at his early age and living with his grandmother and his mother (disabled) in a small shack at Mahawewa, Kolakanawadiya.

The ceremonial house warming was held recently to coincide with the eighth birthday of Nilusha under the patronage of Major General M.K.U.P. Gunaratne, the Commander Security Forces – East who was instrumental to accomplish this project and handed over the house to the child.

Welikanda Divisional Secretary M.M. Hairunnisa, Senior Army officers and civil officials who assisted in constructing the house attended. The beneficiaries received the key from the Chief Guest and the family was gifted with school accessories, a few home appliances and food items by the invitees.

The project was successfully completed with the donations received by Government Authorities, well-wishers and regional donors of the area. The house was completed under the close supervision and guidance of senior officers headed by the Commanding Officer of ninth Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery Lieutenant Colonel M.I.S. Chandrakumara utilizing their own man power.
