Senura and Bimandee win three titles each

Senura Silva the National champion once again back to form winning men’s open title while Bimandee Bandara the promising paddler from Hillwood College Kandy won the open girls title at the All Island Open Ranking Table Tennis Championship for the Mahipala Herath Trophy concluded at the Indoor Stadium of the Kegalle Municipal Council on Sunday.

Senuara, the 16-year-old Anandian defeated Krishan Wickramarathne of Vidyartha OBA at the men’s open final with a five setter game 7/11,11/9,11/4,4/11,11/6. In addition Senura was able to win the boys under 17 and under 19 singles tiles to complete three titles. Bimandee BGandara who won the women’s open by defeating Hansani Piumila of Navy 11/8, 11/8, 11/3 also won the girls under 17 and under 19 titles.

In addition 12-year-old Royalist Janith of made a hard fought five setter win over Dewmeth Weerasena of Lyceum Nugegoda to win the boys under 13 title. Senura and Bimandee also were adjudge Best Players. The tournament was conducted by Kegalle District TT Association.

The Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province Tikiri Kobbekaduwa was the chief guest at the award ceremony while Table Tennis Association President State Minister Kanaka Herath, Starte Minister Tharka Balasooriya TT Secretary Reza Lateef, Tournament committee chairman of TTASL Chandana Perera were also present.

Under 11 Girls’: Nisandi Nimthara of Southlands Galle beat Sasemi Disenya of Dharmasoka Ambalangoda (11/5,11/8,7/11,11/6).

Under 11 Boy’s: Agasthiya Ananditha of Vidyartha beat Naviru Nethsitha of Dharmasoka, Ambalangoda (11//2,10/12,13/15,11/06,11/04).

Under 13 Girls’: Tamadi Kavindya of Sri Devananda Ambalangoda beat Sandinithie Jayasinghe of Musaeus (11/8,11/8,11/6).

Under 13 Boys’: Janith Batugedara of Royal beat Dewmeth Weerasena of Lyceum Nugegoda (11/9, 10/12, 7/11, 11/11/7,11/7).

Under 15 Girls’: Chameesha Thushadi of Kegalu Balika beat Divya Dharani of Dharmasoka Ambalangoda (11/7,11/5,11,8).

Under15 Boys’: Rehan Senanayake of Ananda beat Senul Rathnayake of Dharmaraja (11/8,11/7,11/6).

Under 17 Girls’: Bimandee Bandara Hillwood beat Oneli Lehansa of Museaus (11/08/11,05/11,08).

Under 17 Boys’: Senura Silva of Ananda beat Dhanushka Wijesinghe of Kingswood (14/12,11/5,8/11,11/05).

Under 19 Girls’: Bimandee Bandara Hillwood beat Sanduni Prabuddika of Dharmasoka (11/08/12,10/11,08).

Under 19 Boys’: Senura Silva of Ananda beat Chandupa Alahakoon of Sri Lanka Army (11/3,11/5,3/11,11/3).

Open Women’s Singles: Bimandee Bandara of Hillwood beat Hansani Piumila of Sri Lanka Navy (11/08,11/08,11/03).

Open Men’s Singles: Senura Silva of Ananda beat Krishan Wickramarathne of Vidyartha OBA, Kandy (07/11,11/9,11/04,04/11,11/6).
