Sergeant kidnaps student, gets bail

A team of Nikaweratiya police officers arrested a sergeant of the Kotavehera police who allegedly assaulted and abducted a 15-year-old student for assaulting his brother.

The Sergeant was released on a surety bail of Rs.100,000 after being produced in court.

Police say that the sergeant carried out this kidnapping along with four other people.

The police say that a student residing in Divullewa area had been abducted by the police officer and the group.
