Sergeant, PC in bribery net in Digana

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption said a Police Sergeant and a Constable were arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from an illicit liquor dealer. 

A Police constable attached to the Teldeniya Division Crime Investigation Unit and a Police Sergeant who aided in the act has been arrested.According to the Police, the two suspects had first demanded a sum of Rs.10,000 from the illicit liquor dealer who was arrested by the duo when transporting liquor and later had accepted Rs.5,000 as an advance.

The two Police officers were arrested while receiving the remaining amount of Rs.5,000 inside a hotel in Digana.
