Skipper Shakib Al Hasan made a superb knock of 80 in 85 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes while Towhid Hridoy hit 54 in 81 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes as Bangladesh made a formidable total of 265 for 8 wickets in their 50 overs against India in their super four game of the Asia Cup cricket tournament before the final played at R. Premadasa International cricket stadium yesterday.
Losing the toss, Bangladesh were sent into bat but their top order were struggling at 59 for 4 wickets after 14 overs. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy added a remarkable partnership of 101 runs for the fifth wicket. Nasum Ahamed also hit 44 in 45 balls with 6 fours and a six while Mehedi Hasan scored 29 in 23 balls with 3 fours and made useful knocks which guided them to pass 250. Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 55 while Mohammed Shami took 2 for 32.
India rested Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah for this game before the big final against Sri Lanka at this same venue tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka led by Dasun Shanaka is expected to make final training session today and after their rest day yesterday.
Maheesh Theekshana a doubtful starter
Maheesh Theekshana the mystery spinner has strained his right hamstring and he was subjected to undergo a scan yesterday to fully assess his condition.
Meanwhile team Manager Mahinda Halangoda said yesterday Theekshana ‘ s scan report got and that has to monitor by medical expert to give final decision .If Theekshana couldn’t get full fitness we are expected to get additional substitute player for the squad and hope to write to Asia Cup Technical Committee about this matter.
