SI held for accepting bribe near Court

The Anti Bribery and Corruption Bureau arrested a sub-inspector yesterday (20) who accepted a bribe of Rs.10,000 to give false testimony for the prosecution in a compensation case being heard

at the Kuliyapitiya District Court for a traffic accident in the Giriulla police division, the Pannala Police said.

A sub-inspector who was working in the Giriulla Police and now working at a Police station in Maradana Colombo was arrested. The raid was carried out on a road near the court. The suspect sub-inspector while working at the Giriulla Police was in the act of accepting Rs.10,000 to give false evidence which would favour on of the parties involved in a compensation case relating to a traffic accident pending at the Kuliyapitiya District Court. Police said that the suspect Police officer is scheduled to be produced before the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate. The raid was conducted by the Anti-Bribery and Corruption Bureau.
