SI interdicted for not recording complaint

A sub-inspector of Avissawella Police crimes branch was interdicted for not recording a complaint. A senior official said that a businessman in Avissawella city had come to the police on July 19 to file a complaint stating that a person had put a letter in his mailbox demanding Rs.300,000.

When the businessman went to Avissawella police to complain about it, an officer referred the businessman to the Crime Division.

The sub-inspector who was on duty at that time sent the complainant businessman to the Minor Complaints section without recording the complaint.

After that, the businessman had complained to Kegalle Deputy Inspector General Roshan Rajapaksa and SSP Chandana Kodithuwakku.These officers have ordered to investigate the complaint. .

Accordingly, the Assistant Superintendent K.S.S.K. Jayawardena of Seethawaka Division conducted an investigation against the police inaction and interdicted the Sub-Inspector with immediate effect, the senior officer added.
