Six talented boxers from Sri Lanka have set off for the 34th Penang International Boxing Championship in Malaysia, taking place from December 11 to 15 in Penang.

The Sri Lanka Boxing Association Selection Committee, led by former Army Commander General Jagath Jayasuriya, carefully picked the best Under-20 boxers based on their performance in the recently concluded Stubbs Shield Boxing Championship. One standout boxer among the group is GPU Mihiran, who clinched a Silver medal in the last National Boxing Championship. The six-member team includes GPU Mihiran, YVM Premaratne, TMWN Bandara, SNSM Faris, AGVH Jayasinghe, and TB Meegalle.

The team is accompanied by a dedicated group of officials, including Head Coach PAI Rajapaksha, Team Manager M Marrikkar, Assistant Team Manager Jamitha Bandara, Team Coach L Bandara, and Team Coach B Gamage.

Before departing, all team members agreed to the conditions set by the authorities. A security bond of Rs one million has been signed between the participants, the Federation, and the Ministry, following the given format. Additionally, the team is required to submit a report of the tour to the Sports Ministry within 10 days of returning to Sri Lanka.
