Six parties disqualified from contesting General Election

Six political parties having disputes involving the office of party secretary have lost the opportunity to contest the 2024 Parliamentary Elections and have been disqualified from submitting nomination papers as recognized political parties.

Accordingly, out of the 83 registered political parties only 77 are eligible and have the opportunity to contest the forthcoming General Elections as recognized political parties, the Election Commission stated and a Gazette had been issued listing the 77 parties that are entitled to be treated as recognized political parties that can submit the nomination papers and the six political parties that are not allowed to submit the nomination papers to contest the General Election as recognized political parties.

The Election Commission has announced the 77 registered political parties with the name of each relevant party secretary that can contest in the 2024 General Election which will be held on November 14.
