SJB Jaffna District Organizer pledges support to President

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Jaffna District Organizer, Victor Stanley stated that SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa, who is currently seeking the country’s leadership, did not step forward to accept responsibility for the country and its people during the time of crisis. Ranil Wickremesinghe, who served in Parliament as a single MP, took on the challenge of rebuilding the country. The victory of President Wickremesinghe in the upcoming Presidential Election will be a victory for the entire nation.

This statement was made by SJB Jaffna district organiser Stanley, when he met with the President yesterday (21) at the political office on Flower Road, Colombo to announce his support for President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is running as an Independent candidate in the upcoming Presidential Election.

Victor Stanley was appointed as the Jaffna District Coordinator for Christian Affairs to the President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Commenting further, he stated;The SJB supporters in the North and East are aligned with other parties in supporting President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming Presidential Election and are dedicated to securing his victory.

He reminded everyone of the challenges the country faced in the past, including the long queues that defined that era. Now, with the country having returned to a state of normalcy, he emphasised that people should not forget those difficult times. He also criticized Sajith Premadasa, who is now aspiring to lead the country, for failing to take responsibility during the crisis, in contrast to the current President, Ranil Wickremesinghe, who accepted the challenge of rebuilding the nation as a single MP.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s approach brought fresh hope to the country during a time of great distress. Back then, our people were dying on the streets, struggling even to afford basic necessities like milk powder for their children. While the people suffered, opposition leaders remained silent. Anyone who stood by and watched as the people endured such severe hardship is unfit to lead the nation.

Now, some of those same individuals are asking to be given the country or claiming they will win the leadership. But where were they when the country needed those most? President Ranil Wickremesinghe took charge and completely transformed the situation. When he assumed responsibility, he declared his commitment to rebuilding the country-and he has proven it through his actions.

Therefore, even though we are members of the SJB, we prioritised the future of the country and its people, and decided to dedicate ourselves to securing the victory of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

President Wickremesinghe is the only leader capable of addressing the challenges faced by the people of the North and East, as well as the entire nation. I urge the youth of this country not to be swayed by popular trends that could drag us back to the days of long queues. The previous “Good Governance” (Yahapalana) government provided petrol litre Rs.117, but fell victim to a political wave, leading to the rise of Gotabaya Rajapaksa, which ultimately resulted in the destruction of the country.

Currently, another “Gota-2” scenario is being created. Some are promising to abolish taxes entirely, while others claim they will renegotiate the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). I must say that these promises are unrealistic. I urge the people not to fall into the same trap once again.

Remember, if President Ranil Wickremesinghe does not win the Presidential Election, the country may return to the days of long queues.

Therefore, I ask you not to be misled by empty promises or fleeting trends that could plunge our country back into darkness.

With confidence in President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who has rebuilt this fallen nation, we commit ourselves to moving the country forward alongside him. Former MP Vajira Abeywardena and party activists were also present at the moment.
