SJB to establish economic zones – Opposition Leader
Opposition and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa said the SJB will one day establish economic zones in each and every divisional secretary zone in the country to enable unemployed youth to find suitable employment.
The Opposition Leader made these remarks at a meeting held at Vitharandeniya Maha Vidyalaya in Tangalle, Hambantota where he donated Rs. one million worth digital equipment including computers and a smartboard under the SJB ‘Sakwala’ educational programme.
In addition he also donated Rs.100,000 to the school band and Rs. 25,000 to the school dancing troupe.
The Opposition Leader said establishing economic zones in every divisional secretary will immensely help to solve the unemployment problem and also to swell the country’s economy by exporting our products.
He said, in addition if economic zones are established, our country will be able to manufacture many new products even using our own raw material for local consumption and also for export purposes.
The Opposition Leader also reminded that being in the Opposition the SJB is even now doing a lot of service to countrywide needy schools by distributing digital equipment under the ‘Sakwala’ programme and also medical equipment to needy hospitals under the ‘Husma’ programme. He also encouraged participant schoolchildren to become entrepreneurs when considering the country’s future economic challenges.
He also highlighted the importance of developing the knowledge of Information Technology (IT) by schoolchildren as English is a weapon to find employment here and abroad.
He also mentioned that schoolchildren should improve English Language skills as they will have to pursue higher studies in the English medium in future.
