SJB will ensure welfare of war heroes – Sajith
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Presidential Candidate, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that a separate department will be established to ensure the welfare of war heroes.
The Opposition Leader also said that they will provide the initial capital needed by war heroes to create opportunities to create additional sources of income, to become an entrepreneur and to start a business.
Opposition Leader Premadasa said this while attending the “Dividena Ranaviru” National Conference organised by SJB at the Sugathadasa Stadium on Tuesday (10).
“We are implementing a special programme for the security forces including the three armed forces, Police, Civil Defense department, who have risked their lives for the security, protection, territorial integrity and unity of this country,” he added.
“We will start providing answers to issues on September 22 instead of questioning in Parliament with the mandate of 22 million Lankans,” he noted.
“Within 48 hours, we will establish a Presidential Task Force to solve the problems of the Police, the Armed Forces, and the Civil Defence sector. In that programme, we will definitely take the initiative to provide solutions to the problems you face with time. We will definitely implement the One Rank, One Pension programme.”
The legal status of the “Ranaviru Seva Authority” is not enough to provide solutions to the problems of the military personnel and the families of them. Therefore, the SJB is working to establish a separate department for the welfare of war heroes. It works to provide solutions to the issues and problems of the war veteran community.
“Also, we are working to provide high quality modernist vocational training to the war heroes who are about to retire and make them all good citizens of the society,” he said.
Every district is working to establish a Ranaviru Welfare Fund for the welfare of the Ranaviru community in a way that covers all the districts.
SJB government will fulfil that duty to all the pensioners who were affected by the wage disparity. Arrangements are being made to provide Agrahara insurance to those who retired before 2016. The 15 percent interest given to fixed deposits is being implemented.
The welfare of disabled war heroes and their problems are many. A United People’s Alliance government is working to protect the war heroes who sacrificed their lives. We are working to give them all the privileges they deserve.
“There should be a way to take care of the future of the children of war hero families. We are implementing a special programme for the children of the families of disabled soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. We are working to carry out the duties of the war heroes independently and to make the war heroes part of the country’s national security and law and order protection,” he added. He further said that the retired war heroes are being appointed as part of the anti-corruption programme implemented by the SJB government and are being made into the main vanguards of the second human mission to rid the country of corruption.
