SJB’s Marikkar chides JVP for “hiding behind Nanda Malini”

SJB MP S.M. Marikkar requested the JVP not to hide behind Nanda Malini to cover up their wrongdoings.

He was speaking to the media at the SJB election office in Colombo yesterday. He further said, “The JVP’s Sunil Handunnetti says that the country’s economy will recover by allowing the laundering of black money. JVP’s Lal Kantha says that the tourism industry will be developed by holding demonstrations. JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that he is building a bank that gives loans without collateral. The JVP is well-known for propagating these kinds of ridiculous stories.

“Also, the JVP says that no good happened to the country in the past 76 years. During Chandrika Bandaranaike’s government, the Minister of Agriculture was Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the Minister of Rural Economy was Lal Kantha, the Minister of Cultural Affairs was Vijitha Herath, and the Minister of Fisheries was Chandrasena Wijesinghe. But in the end, they did nothing for the country’s agriculture and the country’s people. Finally, after a year and a half, they left the ministries and ran away.

“Also, Wimal Weerawansa and the Rajapaksas hid behind a so-called cloak of patriotism. Today, the JVP is trying to cover up their wrongdoings while hiding behind the reputation of Nanda Malini. The JVP is trying to sell Nanda Malini for their own ulterior political motives. I request the JVP not to disrespect and use Nanda Malani in this manner.”
