SLASSCOM to host IT/ BPM Career Fair in Jaffna on Nov. 17,18

The Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) will host the IT/ BPM Career Fair in Jaffna on November 17 at the University of Vavuniya and at the University of Jaffna on 18.

The main objective of the IT/BPM Week is to create awareness, build capacity and promote entrepreneurship for the industry in all parts of the country. This year’s key activities during the IT/BPM Career Fair will center around securing jobs for final year students in over 20 leading IT/BPM companies within the country who will be joining the event. Wiley Global Technology, CodeGen International Fortude, VitalHub, BCS Technology, SimCentric are some of the companies who have already partnered. The main target audience for the event can be categorized as university students in Government and Private universities in the Northern Province.

The event will be held in 2 locations. On November 17 it will be the IT/ BPM career fair organized in partnership with the Northern Chamber of IT (NCIT), one of SLASSOM’s key regional partners.

The event agenda will create awareness among the undergraduates about the different career options and opportunities available in the IT/ BPM industry and seek to create a platform for the biggest career fair in the Northern Province with walk-in- and mock interviews and resume collection for students who are ready to be recruited.

Regional Development Forum Lead of SLASSCOM, Jehan Perera , commenting on the upcoming IT/ BPM Career Fair stated, “The development of the IT/ BPM industry is critically important as we at SLASSCOM believe it can be a way to help support the country’s economy through our goal of generating USD 5 billion, through initiating 1000 IT/ BPM startups and producing over 200,000 skilled professionals to be employed in the sector.”
