SLPP has not decided on a Presidential candidate yet – MR
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa mentioned that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has not yet selected a candidate for the upcoming Presidential Election.
The former President said this on Monday (1) night when he arrived in Sri Lanka after attending the 70th Anniversary Ceremony of Promulgation of the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence held in Beijing, China.
The former President also said that leaders are created from among the people. Mahinda Rajapaksa said he had discussions with the Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Chinese Foreign Minister Wan Yi and the discussions were successful. He said that the Chinese government will continue to be in a good position regarding Sri Lanka. He also mentioned that the demise of late R.Sampanthan is a great loss for the Tamil people and the democracy of Sri Lanka in general.
Rajapaksa arrived at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport on a Singapore Airlines flight.
