Sri Lanka Transport Board Deputy General Manager Panduka Swarnahansa said 1,358 buses will be provided for duties related to the upcoming Presidential Election.
He further stated that the buses will be deployed in accordance with the requests made through the District Election Offices. Additionally, 175 buses are to be allocated for police duties related to the election. In order to facilitate voters travelling from rural areas to cast their ballots, bus services were operational yesterday (19) and special long-distance bus services are planned for today (20) as well. Swarnahansa added that these services are aimed at ensuring convenience for the public.
Meanwhile, the Railway Department announced plans to operate a special train service between Colombo Fort and Kankesanthurai. The train will run on September 20 and 21 from Colombo Fort to Kankesanthurai and will return on Sunday (22), as per a statement released by the department.
