The Small and Micro sector manufacturers could export their locally produced products more economically if the Postal Department became more flexible, said Director Administration, eClub Business College, Panadura, Dr. Dulaj Edirisinghe.
He said that their institution management with Managing Director Dr. Roy Malcolm Perera introduced ‘eBay selling courses’ in 2007 when e-commerce was at a primitive stage in Sri Lanka and many youths followed their courses.

“We taught them how to source an overseas order, quote price and export and get paid via postal and courier services to the global market mainly through eBay.”
“We were not targeting major exporters but small-time sellers who did not need to open LC’s or go to port to export them. They simply posted or couriered their produce and earned a package in foreign currency.”
“Looking back in the online business sector, we are on a mission to boost Sri Lankan youth. eClub Business College has to date have upskilled 100,000+ students in varied course areas energized by a panel of graduate-trained instructors since our inspection.”
“Our courses have helped many Sri Lankans to become medium sized exports but today the postal department has introduced several new measures which make these kinds of exports very discouraging.”
Hence they seek international curious service companies for their overseas delivery but since their charges are high the profit margins of local small time exporters have shrunk which is resulting in the downturn of this business.”
eClub Business College, today owns two premises at Nalluruwa, Galle Road, Panadura and Horana Road, Wekada, Panadura and has expanded to offering many other educational courses.
He said that today in addition to sending Sri Lankan merchandise overseas there is also a growing local market that patronizes novel products.
“to cater to this segment we also offer” Online Business Education Courses (where over 130,000 students have participated) eBay Selling Guide, (since 2007) Crypto Trading Guide and Fiverr Business Guide.
In a bid to mould the youth to meet future job opportunities we host Personal Development Workshops (where over 5,000 students participated), Passionpreneurs’ Workshops (PWS) and the Success Guide. “for some of these events we take students to an adventure training center providing overnight accommodation to conduct these outward bound programs.
“Our other courses include Education Courses in IT Field (Students participation was around 2,000), Certificate in IT (CIT), I.C.T. Technician (NVQ Level 03) and Graphic Designing.
“eClub Business College also conducts language courses in English, Japanese, Korean and IELTS and over 3,000 have participated.” (SS)
