Speaker, Chief Justice must resolve IGP issue – President
- Will support Election Commission to hold the Presidential Election on September 21
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has informed yesterday (28) that the issue regarding the Inspector General of Police should be discussed and resolved by the Speaker and the Chief Justice.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe had informed the above to the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya separately over the phone yesterday morning.
The President has further informed these two officials that no matter what the issue regarding the Inspector General of Police is, he will give his support to the Election Commission for the Presidential Election to be held on September 21.
The President had further informed that he will provide all necessary support to the Election Commission so that there is no disruption to the presidential election scheduled for September 21.
