Special private bus service only for schoolgirls in EP

For the first time in the history of the Eastern Province, a dedicated private bus service for schoolgirls has been launched with the support of the Transport Ministry. This initiative, facilitated by the Sri Lanka Transport Board’s Batticaloa Depot, marks a significant milestone in providing safe and reliable transportation for female students.

The decision to establish this service was made following a request from the Aruvi Women’s Network in the Batticaloa District. In response, the Sri Lanka Transport Board introduced a special bus service exclusively for schoolgirls, ensuring their safety and convenience.

The service is exclusively for schoolgirls, and according to the Batticaloa Route Manager of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, S. Sridharan, the bus operates from Sathurukondan to Batticaloa. It begins its journey at 6.15 a.m. from Sathurukondan.

The school community has expressed their gratitude to the Batticaloa Depot Manager and administration for their cooperation and efforts in making this service a reality.
