Speed riders arrested, bikes seized in Kaduwela

Kaduwela Police has arrested a group of youth who were driving motorcycles recklessly, with a risk of accidents

and causing public distress on Kaduwela Lake Road, Millennium Drive Road, Chandrika Kumaratunga Mawatha. Fifteen officers of the traffic division launched an operation on Sunday under the instructions of Kaduwela OIC Kan Weerasinghe and 16 motorcycles were seized during the operation.

The arrested youth are to be prosecuted in the Kaduwela court under the charges of careless driving, driving in defiance of Police orders and driving without a licence.

They are residents of Malambe, Kaduwela, Mulleriyawa, Athurugiriya have been playing fun games on the roads and performing on the roads.

Police have often received complaints about the excessive noise and accidents caused by these performances.Acting on the complaints of the local residents, the Police had carried out this raid.
