The Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR), which is the precursor to the Commonwealth Games 2022, scheduled to begin from July 28 to August 8 is on its third day yesterday, has made its way to Colombo from Hatton.

In the evening session, the baton was taken to the Sports Ministry and a colorful ceremony was held to mark its presence there. The Sports Ministry Secretary Anuradha Wijekoon and Sports Director General Amal Edirisooriya were among the baton relay while National Olympic Committee Vice President Joseph Kenny and Treasurer Gamini Jayasinghe also associated with them. Sri Lanka is the 25th location where Her Majesty the Queen has placed her message to the Commonwealth nations, signifying the start of a 294-day relay through the 72 countries and territories.
