Sri Lanka-China Friendship Association congratulates President, Government
The Sri Lanka-China Friendship Association (SLCFA) extends its congratulations to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the National People’s Power (NPP) Government on their resounding victory in the General Elections. Securing a historic two-thirds majority in Parliament, with strong support from all ethnic communities in Sri Lanka, the NPP Government has been entrusted with unprecedented strength to uphold Sri Lanka’s sovereignty, national independence, and territorial integrity. This mandate positions the Government to address challenges posed by Western imperialism, economic pressures from the IMF, regional expansionist manoeuvres, and the exploitation of Sri Lanka’s national resources and State enterprises by regional and global powers.
This monumental mandate of unity strengthens President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and his Government in resisting foreign interference, particularly from those who exploit ethnic and religious divisions to undermine Sri Lanka’s sovereignty and independence. The SLCFA warmly congratulates the President and his Government for their policy of non-alignment in foreign relations, which adheres to the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence in the international arena.
The Sri Lankan people hold high expectations for the newly formed Government to steer the nation toward transformation – from a developing state into a production-oriented economy. The eradication of rural poverty, the fight against corruption, the implementation of critical reforms, and a commitment to economic revival are priorities we are confident the Government will achieve.
As a political party founded on the principles of social justice, the NPP embodies values that align with the successes of nations like China, which has risen as a global power guided by a similar vision over the past seven decades. The SLCFA firmly believes that the NPP’s leadership will guide Sri Lanka along a similar path, fostering resilience and prosperity.
While Sri Lanka faces significant financial challenges and navigates complex global geopolitical dynamics, we trust in the NPP’s ability to act with strength and courage to protect national interests.
The SLCFA remains committed to fostering stronger bilateral ties with China. As a long-standing partner, we believe Sri Lanka stands to benefit immensely from the deepening of state-to-state and people-to-people friendships with China.
With unwavering support, we extend our best wishes to the Government in its endeavours to build a prosperous, equitable, and sovereign nation. Together, let us strive to make Sri Lanka a great nation.
