Sri Lanka – Korea Business Council hosts welcome dinner for Ambassador of Korea

The Executive Committee Sri Lanka – Korea Business Council (SLKBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce hosted a dinner meeting with Miyon Lee, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka recently.

The meeting covered a wide range of topics including enhancing collaboration and taking proactive measures to explore and leverage trade and investment opportunities. Lee welcomed the opportunity to work closely with the SLKBC to enhance bilateral relations and economic ties.

Discussions also focused on how the Council can actively contribute to and participate in implementing the Indo-Pacific Strategy, as well as the 2030 Busan Work Expo which would provide an important platform for sustainable and long-lasting economic cooperation between Korea and Sri Lanka.

President of the SLKBC Asitha Martis highlighted the importance of interactions such as the dinner meeting, as they play a crucial role in strengthening bilateral relations and addressing important issues facing the business communities of both countries.

Lee, Vice Chairman of Korean Businessman’s Association and representatives from Sri Lanka – Korea Business Council Asitha Martis President, Shamil Mendis Vice President, Kunendran Vice President, Priyantha Mendis Immediate Past President, Mahen Kariyawasan Andrew The Travel Company (Pvt) Ltd, John Shiran Dissanayake Transmarine (Pvt) Ltd, Rohitha Mendis Prudential Shipping (Pvt) Ltd, Sangeeth Weliwatta Senok Trade Combine (Pvt) Ltd, Imasha Pasqual Isuru Engineering (Pte) Ltd, Kalinga De Silva Centrum Marine Consultancy, Dinithi Dias and Yashodha Fernando Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The SLKBC is dedicated to enhancing and advancing trade and investment between Sri Lanka and Korea. We offer a platform for businesses to connect, share ideas, and discover fresh opportunities for collaboration. Recent events hosted by the Sri Lanka-Korea Business Council, such as the Busan Delegation to Sri Lanka in partnership with KOTRA, and an interactive session with Rekha Mallikarachchi, the Former Commercial Counselor at the Sri Lanka Embassy in the Republic of Korea, demonstrate that the council provides an excellent platform for members to demonstrate their capabilities and explore potential avenues for cooperation with our Korean counterparts.
