Sri Lankan Buddhist Monks attend consecration ceremony of tallest Maravijaya Buddha Image in Myanmar

A high-level delegation of 11 Buddhist Monks from Sri Lanka attended the consecration ceremony of Maravijaya Buddha Image in Myanmar on August 1, at the Buddha Park in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. On an official invitation of the Myanmar Government, this delegation arrived Myanmar on July 28 and departed to Sri Lanka on August 3.

During their stay in Myanmar, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met the delegation personally on July 31, and paid homage to the Venerable Monks. Myanmar Prime Minister admired the delegation saying attendance of the Venerable Monks to this auspicious ceremony will strengthen the cooperation in religious affairs and support the propagation of the Buddhism.

On August 1, the Maravijaya Buddha Image was consecrated on a grand scale.

A total of 855 Buddhist Monks, the Prime Minister and the other high dignitaries of the Myanmar Government, and the Diplomats of the Foreign Missions in Myanmar attended the ceremony.
