St. Aloysius have it easy

St Aloysius College defeated Vidyaloka College by 116 runs (parabola method) in their annual limited over big match “ Glory of Galle “ played at Galle International cricket stadium on Sunday.

St Aloysius coached by Malaka de Silva scored 200 for 9 wickets in 49 overs while Dinesh Nimsara top scored 40 and Induwara Udena 32 making useful knocks to build up the total .Nimesh Aravinda was the most successful bowler of Vidyaloka capturing 3 for 24.

Vidyaloka innings started at 2.45pm due to delay start if the game and Vidyalokians were 84 for 4 wickets when bad light stopped the game and match commissioner Sisira Weerasinghe and two two onfield umpires Thamara Abeyratne and Dewsiri Bodhiyabaduge decided to use parabola method to decide winner of the game. At the 28 overs target was 146 runs and Vidyaloka managed to get 84 runs and St Aloysius retained the champions trophy from chief Guests D.S.I Group Chairman Nandadasa Rajapaksa and Group Chairman Dr Kulatunga Rajapaksa .DSI Group was the principal sponsor of this big match .
