Station masters, controllers challenging the country’s law will be Considered as vacated posts – Railways GM
Railways General Manager S. S. Mudalige states that at a time when the Government has made public transportation an essential service under the powers vested in the President, the Station Masters who challenged the country’s law will be treated as having vacated posts.
Mudalige informed all Station Masters and Train Controllers should immediately report to their stations of work or the nearest station. Mudalige issuing a final notice to the striking staff informs that all Station Masters and Train Controllers who do not comply with that order will be considered to have left the service.
The Railways General Manager has thus proceeded to issue a final notice to all Station Masters and Train Controllers who are on strike in Sri Lanka Railways.
The announcement states that station masters and train controllers should report to work at the respective railway station or the nearest railway station by 12 noon yesterday (10).
Acting Railways GM S.S.Mudalige states that the station masters and train controllers on strike who do not heed the notice will be treated as those who have vacated the service.
He has also pointed out in the announcement that this strike has been launched despite Sri Lanka Railways been made an essential service. Many office trains have been canceled due to the strike started by station masters from midnight Tuesday (9) based on several demands including issues about promotions.
Passengers are facing severe difficulties due to this action.
