Students fined for sharing nude pics after break up

Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis fixed a government fee of Rs.1,500 yesterday (4) for six school students of the Kurunegala area, who pleaded guilty before court for sharing nude photos of a girlfriend during a birthday party.

These six students study in a leading school in Kurunegala. The Magistrate warned them not to commit such offences again and ordered them to submit to a bond of Rs.25,000 for two years.

The suspected student, who is said to be the boyfriend, has been in a relationship with a female student of the same age and has sent these nude scenes to the phones of his friends during his birthday party after he broke up with her.

The Magistrate imposed this punishment to these students considering the lawyer’s request that the suspects plead guilty before the court and sentenced them under Section 306 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
