Suspect arrested for attempting to sell rented vehicle

The Colombo Crimes Division had arrested a suspect in Matara for attempting to sell a rented vehicle with forged documents.

The Police Media Division said that the suspect had prepared forged documents and planned to sell the vehicle at Rs. 5.75 million. An investigation in this regard has been launched on a tip-off and the suspect was arrested in Godagama, Matara on Monday (27).

Police said that the suspect’s National Identity Card, which was produced during the search, was also a fake one.

The suspect is a 50-year-old resident of Polgasowita.

He was produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The Colombo Crimes Division is investigating.
