Suspended Parliament Deputy SG lodges Bribery complaint against Speaker
The suspended Deputy Secretary-General of Parliament, Chaminda Kularatne, has lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.
Kularatne appeared before the Bribery Commission to formally submit the complaint, alleging corruption-related actions by the Speaker.
Speaking to the media on behalf of his client, Attorney-at-Law Mithun Dias said the complaint was not being filed against the government, but specifically against the Speaker over alleged corrupt activities.
He said Kularatne had been suspended due to a personal dispute with the Speaker, which he claimed was unrelated to official duties or any other administrative matter, and stemmed from personal animosity rather than political motives.
The lawyer further stated that the complaint lodged includes allegations of corrupt practices by the Speaker, which have now been formally submitted to the Bribery Commission for investigation.
No official response has yet been issued by the Speaker or the Bribery Commission regarding the complaint. (Newswire)
