Missing 17-year-old girl found dead in Balangoda quarry

The body of a 17-year-old girl reported missing earlier this week has been recovered from a quarry in Kajuwatta, Mahawalathenna, police said.

The teenager, a resident of Mahawalathenna in Balangoda, had been missing since July 23. Her father subsequently lodged a complaint with the Balangoda Police.

The circumstances surrounding her death have yet to be established. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted today (25) at the Balangoda Base Hospital.
