Teenager sexually assaulted and tortured, 6 to be arrested

The Minuwangoda Police have commenced an investigation to arrest a group of people who abducted a 16-year-old student who was playing in front of a house in Dewalapola, in a car, assaulted him, put chilli powder on him and tortured him.

Police information disclosed that there are six people including a husband and wife couple and an Army soldier among those to be arrested. Police said that these people have abandoned their places of residence and fled and are in hiding.

The wanted woman is working in a garment factory. On the night of the 18th, while she was on her way home from work, a person had covered her face in a dark place and taken her to a forest area and tried to molest her. According to the police, the woman had kicked the man and he had fallen into a nearby swamp. Taking advantage of that opportunity, the woman had run away and told her husband about the harassment. Accordingly, the husband and neighbours had carried out a search to find the person who had tried to molest the woman, but they had not been able to do so that night.

Upon further investigation, the woman’s husband received information that it was the 16-year-old student who had tried to molest his wife. Police said that an Army soldier who is to be married to the woman’s daughter, along with a few others had got together and abducted the student day before yesterday (19) evening in a car. They had taken him to Dagonna and imprisoned him, assaulted him and tortured him inhumanely.

The student’s father had complained to the police about this abduction. During the investigation, it had been found that this student had even been removed from the school recently where he had been studying. The Police have also received information that he had forcibly taken a girl student of that school into a toilet.

The police said that the private parts of the student had been tortured by putting chilli powder on them and putting into a drawer.

Police said further that the group that had kidnapped him had started drinking alcohol that night (19) and at that time the student had escaped and returned home yesterday morning (20) after hiding in a closed garment factory building during the night. Police said the student is currently being treated at the Gampaha Hospital.
