Term of four SA’s extended by Sports Minister

Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe yesterday granted a grace period to four Sports Associations (SA) to conduct their elections within the next few days after the scheduled deadline had expired on August 31.

As a result, the Sports Minister has extended the official term of Football Sri Lanka (FSL), Sri Lanka Elle Association, Sri Lanka Gymnastics Association and the Sri Lanka Handball Associations.

All these Sports Associations have failed to conduct their elections before the scheduled deadline of August 31 and will have a grace period to elect the new officials for the ensuing year in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the new dates for the FSL elections will be announced after a discussion between the Sports Minister and the 4-member FIFA delegation, which is set to arrive in Sri Lanka on September 5.

The FIFA delegation and the Sports Minister are set to discuss matters related to the FSL Constitution and the possibility of making amendments.
