There should be religious-ethnic harmony in country – MP Eran

SJB MP Eran Wickramaratne says that it is essential to have religious and ethnic harmony in this country. The MP stated this while speaking at a press conference held at the Opposition Leader’s Office.

Wickramaratne expressing his views further also said:”

When talking about the economy, politics and society cannot be separated. Economics is not a pure science like chemistry or physics. Political and social sciences are completely intertwined.

“When the Election Commissioner wanted Rs.4.5 billion to hold an election, the government said that they could not give it because there is no money. But experts say that the amount of money lost to the country from Express Pearl is between US$ 6 to10 billion.These problems have arisen in the country because of bad governance.

“We see a new situation today. Individuals are arrested for different reasons using the PTA. Comedian Natasha has been arrested using ICCPR. I am especially sensitive about this. When a woman is remanded, we should be aware of the conditions in our country. We don’t stand for those who have done wrong. We need to file a case. That’s our stand. Whoever does the wrong is wrong. But we are against using PTA to arrest them. They tried to remove the PTA and bring ATA. and it was widely opposed. Therefore, it was postponed. Now, as Dr. Harsha de Silva said, they are trying to bring a new law to control the media. What are these people trying to do?”
