0 7

The Mattegoda Police said that six batteries worth Rs.390,000 installed in three buses that were parked overnight at the Mattegoda main bus station were stolen in the early hours of yesterday (20). As usual, on the last Tuesday (19) night, ten buses were parked at the terminus after the end of the daily run.

Police said that a supermarket security guard saw a three-wheeler suspiciously parked near

the buses at around 2.15 am yesterday (20) and three persons fled in the three-wheeler after the security guard directed a flashlight towards them.

Police suspect that if the security guard had not seen the suspicious three-wheeler, the batteries of all ten buses would have been stolen.

The suspects involved in the incident have not been arrested so far and the suspects will be taken with the help of security camera footage.
