Three trapped in mine landslide rescued, one dies

Police said three people who were working in a mine near the Kahawatta Samarakanda Purana Gallen Viharaya were trapped under a landslide in the mine, resulting in one death, on Monday (31) evening.

The residents of the area worked hard to rescue them. The Police said that although they were rescued, one of them died while being taken to hospital.

The deceased is a 42-year-old resident of Kahawatta Andana Estate named K. Sathyamurthi.

The two injured were admitted to the Andana Hospital, and later transferred to the Kahawatta Hospital.
