Thurstan OBU felicitates teachers

Thurstan College Old Boys’ Union recently organised an event to felicitate the teaching staff of the college to mark 2024 World Teachers’ Day. The objective of organising the event was to express gratitude to the teachers for their dedication and commitment towards the education of the students, helping them to become useful citizens who can undertake any responsibility.

Teachers’ Day is an annual event in the calendar of Thurstan College OBU organised by the Educational Sub Committee under the guidance of Thurstan College Principal Pramuditha Wickramasinghe.

This year’s the Thurstan Teachers’ Day ceremony was held at the college hall and distinguished old boy and former WHO official Dr. Sudath Peiris graced the occasion as chief guest. Delivering the keynote address, he stressed the role of teachers to transform a child into a competent individual, during their school education.

Thurstan College Old Boy’s Union had made arrangements to present gift packs to each member of the teaching and non-academic staff as a token of appreciation. At the end of the function the Thurstan OBU hosted academic and non-academic staff to lunch. Officials of the Thurstan College OBU and the School Development Society were also present.
