Titans SC win Kandy District limited overs cricket tournament

Titans Sports Club beat New Wave Cricket Club by ten wickets in the march played at the Prisons grounds Pallekele. Titans Sports Club won the toss and elected to bowl first and bowled out New Wave cricket Club for 91 runs in 18.3 overs,in which Danushka Hearth scored s superb 50. S.C.K. Hapukotuwa,M.G. Hearth, Imeth Rajapaksha and S.B. Dedeunupitiya pocketed two wickets each and in return to win the game Titans Cricket Club scored 94 runs in 10.3 overs for no wickets, S.B. Dedunupitiya was unbeaten on 62 with some fine hits right round the wicket.

New Wave Cricket Club 91 all-out in 18.3 over’s – Danushka Kumara 50, S.C.K. Hapukotuwa 2 for 09, M.G. Herath 2 for 16, Imeth Rajapaksha 2 for 19and S.B. Dedunupitiya 2 for 25

Titans Sports Club 94 for no loss in 10.3 overs – S.B. Dedunupitiya 62 not out and S.K.T.Kodithuwakku 20 not out

Trinity third in Stubbs Shield

Trinity College boxers have given their best to take the third place in the Stubbs Shield, securing the third place in this year’s competition. Sharing the podium with them is S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia.Despite challenges, Trinity’s boxers showcased their skills, winning two Gold and two Bronze medals, setting a new milestone in the school’s sports history. .Since 1913, Boxing became a main-stream sport in college and many inter-house tournaments were held. Consequently, in1914 Trinity won its first battle for the Stubbs Shield. Trinity boxing became defunct in 1962, but, it sprang back to life in 1975 with the trainers being Bobby Jayaweera, S. B. Kiridena, Leslie Handunge and Sarath Jayasinghe and culminated with winning the Stubbs in 1983. Sadly, the second death-knell was dealt to Trinity boxing in 1984 and was again revived in 2005and continues to this day. Trinity College is the first Stubbs shield winners in 1914
