One-year-old toddler was reported dead in an accident involving a three-wheeler in the Kalubowila area on October 04.
The Police said that a car plying from Kohuwala to Dehiwala had collided head-on in Kalubowila with a three-wheeler carrying three passengers. On impact, the three-wheeler had been dragged forward and thrown against the gate of a house in the area.
A mother and her one-year-old toddler who had sustained serious injuries in the accident were admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital after which they were transferred to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment.
The child succumbed to his injuries after being transferred to the Colombo National Hospital, while the mother is still undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Another woman who had travelled in the three-wheeler is also receiving treatment for minor injuries at the Kalubowila Hospital.
The deceased child has been identified as a one-year-old boy and a resident of Yanagampala, Nugegoda. The toddler’s body is kept in the mortuary of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children. The driver of the car in question has been arrested in this connection, as the Kohuwala Police continue with investigations into the incident.
