Traffic congestion on Buthgamuwa Road to be eased

Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said yesterday that traffic congestion on the Kotte, Buthgamuwa Road will be eased within the next three months.

Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana was speaking during a special observation of the narrow bridge between Rajagiriya Kotuwegoda and Buthgamuwa and the surrounding area which causes heavy traffic on a daily basis.

On this occasion, the Minister observed there is a huge traffic congestion when vehicles are entering and leaving Colombo during the morning and evening due to this narrow bridge.

The Minister instructed relevant officials to build a temporary bridge within the next three months using the resources of the State Development and Construction Corporation, including used iron, to reduce the existing traffic congestion until work is initiated to widen the existing bridge or build a new bridge at this place.
