Defending champions Trinity College booked their place in the Under 19 division One Tier A Inter schools limited over’s cricket tournament semi final with an eight wicket win over Mahanama College in the quarter final.
They will meet Royal College in the semi final on November 19 Sunday at the Surrey Village Maggona. The defending champions Trinity College are well guided by their coach Naveen Ekanayake has made the school and Kandy proud by giving a good display and soon after this semi final he will leave to Dubai for the ICC level III coaching course, which will be held from November 21 to 26.
Naveen Ekanayake was well supported by Lakshitha Alahakoon-Assistant Coach, Bandula Pushpakumara-Trainer, Lasantha Herath Physiotherapist, Bryan Senaratne- MIC and the person who gave the best support was the principal Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara In the Quarters Trinity College scored 162 for 2 in 42.1 overs in reply to Mahanama Colleges 158 in 42.1 overs. In the quarters for Trinity College Dinusha Peries did well to score 78, Vinuka Dammage 52 and Supun Waduge22 and Manula Kularthne took 3 for 33, Jayavi Liyanage 2 for 22 and Thanra Wimaladarma 2 for 32.
The captain of the side Manula Kularatne has played for the senior side for three years from 2021 to 2023.He led the Under 17 Central Province Super Provincial Team (2022), represented the Under 19 Central Province Super Provincial Team (2022/23) and also played for the Sri Lanka under19 team on the tour of UAE for the Tri Nation Series.
He won the Best Bowlers award at Mahela – Sanga Challenge Trophy in 2022 and was the Man of the Match at the 40th Battle of the Blues One Day Encounter 2022 and was awarded the coveted Lion. vice Captain Dinusha Peiris played for the first XI for two years (2022/23), and also played for Under 19 Central Province Super Provincial Team (2023) . He won the Best Fielders award for Under 17 in 2021,and the Gamini Dissanayake Memorial Shield 2023. He won the Lion in 2023. Last season he took over thirty wickets and scored nearly nine hundred runs.
This season’s cricketers who gave their best are Manula Kularatne(captain), Dinusha Pieris (vice captain), Janith Warnakula, Dinuka Tennakoon, Viduka Dammage, Tharana Wimaladharma, Malith Rathnayake, Kavindu Jayaratne Lakvin Abeyasinghe, Supun Waduge, Wathila Udara,Jayavi Liyanagama, Dimantha Mahavithana, Puleesha Thilakaratne, Rajinu Thilakarthne, Ometh Bandara.
