The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) have issued a warning officially to Trinity College after they pulled out from the scheduled Inter-Schools Under-19 Division One League Rugby Tournament fixture against Zahira College on July 29 at Maradana.

The official communique, signed by the President of the SLSRFA has been sent to Trinity College Principal after the SLSRFA Disciplinary Committee hearing held on August 5.

The Trinitians pulled out from the game a few hours before the kick-off citing medical reasons as they were unable to field their 1st XV with nearly 10 players down with suspected food poisoning.

According to the SLSRFA Disciplinary Committee hearing, Zahira have been awarded victory of this match and have been granted the full six points under the SLSRFA handbook chapter 5.7 of page 31.

The SLSRFA have also raised a serious question as to how come Trinity pulled out from this game with some of their players not fit but when they are allowed to register 45 players for the league tournament.

The official communique from the SLSRFA have also warned Trinity to avoid such incidents in the future including postponement of the scheduled matches and pulling out from the games.

In addition, Trinity had been asked to reimburse the cost, which Zahira had spent in organising this match on that day.

However, an official from Zahira yesterday confirmed to the Daily News that they have refused to accept the refund from Trinity and have informed the SLSRFA.
