Two drunk cops arrested for causing accident in Police jeep

A Police Sergeant and a Police Constable have been arrested after taking a jeep belonging to the Haputale Police station without permission and causing an accident while drunk.According to Haputale Police, the accident occurred near the Haputale Muslim Vidyalaya on the Haputale-Bandarawela Road when the   jeep went off the road and collided with a traffic signal pole and a culvert.

Investigations have revealed that the Police Constable and the Sergeant were in civilian clothes when the accident took place.

The Police Constable after being produced for a medical test was found to have been under the influence of alcohol.

The Police Sergeant had fled after the scene but later surrendered to the Police. Both have been interdicted.
