Two held with gold biscuits worth

Ramanathanpuram Customs officials in India have arrested two persons who transported 14.8 kg of gold biscuits worth around two hundred million rupees by sea from Mannar by boat on Thursday (31).

The fishing boat owner who transported this stock of gold biscuits from Mannar to India has also been arrested and one of the other two suspects arrested is a resident of Mannar while the other is a resident of Tamil Nadu. The Indian media reported that a motorcycle suspected to have arrived, to take away the gold biscuits had fled as soon as they heard that the gold biscuits in the boat had been seized.

This stock of gold biscuits had been taken into custody by officials at Ramanathanpuram on the Kalimankundu beach near Geesalkarai, subsequent to receiving a tip-off about the gold being smuggled. The two suspects who were arrested along with the boat owner will be produced before the Ramanathanpuram court.
