Two PHIs drown in Mathugama water hole

The Ittapana Police said that two Public Health Inspectors of the Moratuwa MOH office who had gone to bathe in the Ethawetuna wewa water fall in Matugama have drowned.

The deceased have been identified as S. Gauthaman (26), a resident of Batticaloa and S. Harshanan (28) from Jaffna. They had gone to visit a friend in Ittapana and had gone to the waterfall with a group of friends.

The two had reportedly drowned while one friend had gone to buy soap from a nearby shop and the other two had climbed to the top of the hill where the water fall is located to take pictures.
