Two planning murder arrested in Elpitiya

Elpitiya Police arrested two persons with a firearm allegedly planning to assassinate a person at Elpitiya, Pituwala area on Saturday.

Police found a pistol, 10 live ammunitions, three mobile phones, two fake number plates in the possession of the suspects. They also seized motorcycle in which the two suspects were travelling.

The arrested men are aged 22 and 31 and one of them is an army soldier and the other is a former army soldier who had been dismissed from the army.

Elpitiya Police took steps to arrest these two suspects after a tip-off they received about the duo planning to assassinate a man. They were arrested while loitering near the house of their alleged target.

It has been revealed that the suspect who is currently in the Army was on duty leave and came to commit this crime. It has also been revealed that these suspects attempted to commit another murder in a different area and failed to do so.

It has been observed that this murder plan was made from abroad. Elpitiya headquarters Police are conducting further investigations.
