Two serious in Thalwila fishermen’s gunfire, clash

Two people have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment with gunshot and stab injuries due to a dispute between two groups of fishermen in the Thalwila area.

A 52-year-old person who was injured by sharp weapons and a 28-year-old person who was injured by gunshots have been taken to hospital.

Two groups of fisheremen from the Thalwila area had clashed over a dispute over fish caught in a net. There has aslo been a shooting with a firearm during the clash, Police said.

Police have seized the 12-bore gun used in the shooting.

Police said that the two seriously injured persons were admitted to Marawila Base Hospital and then transferred to Colombo National Hospital. Marawila Police are investigating the incident.
