Police arrested two students yesterday (31) for allegedly stealing a motorcycle parked in front of a house in Gelioya area in Peradeniya, and hiding it in a house in Dangolla, in the Urawala area, to sell it.
Police said that one student is studying in a Buddhist Pirivena while the other is studying in a mixed school. According to the information provided by the 15-year-old student who lives near the owner of the motorcycle, the 16-year-old Pirivena student stole the motorcycle on Sunday (29) around 12.00 noon, rode it to the house in Dangolla and hid it. The two students then exchanged information about selling it via WhatsApp. Peradeniya Police SI Ekanayake, PCs Suriyagoda (74826), Senanayake (88634) and Sandaruwan (99962) arrested the suspects.
Police said that one of the students riding the stolen motorcycle has been recorded in several CCTV cameras from Gelioya to Dangolla and they have removed the number plates.
