Two women buried in Uduwara earthslip

According to the police, two young women who were caught in a landslide that occurred in Haliela, Uduwara, Sixth Mile Post area in Badulla yesterday (22) afternoon have died after being taken to the hospital for treatment.

Two women, aged 21 and 22, residing in the upper part of Uduwara Sixth Mile post have died from this incident. Police said that this landslide occurred in Uduwara, Sixth Mile post, Kendagolla Pathana area due to the heavy rains and the house where they live was caught by the landslide and the two young women were buried under it.

Later, Police together with local residents rescued them from the place and brought them to Badulla Teaching Hospital for treatment, and while they were being treated in the emergency treatment unit they have died, the senior medical officer of the hospital, Dr. Palitha Rajapaksa said. The Halilela Police are conducting further investigations regarding this incident.
