Unbeaten India favoured to beat Aussies in World Cup final
India will meet Australia in the world cup final tomorrow at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmadabad which is the home town of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and tight security already provided for the final which will commence at 2 pm tomorrow.
Australia defeated South Africa by three wickets in the second semi-final of the World Cup in Kolkata on Thursday. India, beat New Zealand in the first semi-final by 70 runs at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, to reach the World Cup final after 12 years.
Last time India met Sri Lanka in the world cup final in 2011 when M.S Dhoni’s team clinched the world cup after a good fight . This will be for the first time in 20 years when India and Australia will face-off in an ICC limited-overs tournament final, having last met in the 2003 World Cup final
India locked horns against Australia in the league stage match of the 2023 World Cup in Chennai on 8 October. After Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja helped India restrict Australia to 199, the Men in Blue found themselves in trouble at 2/3 during the chase. That was until Virat Kohli (85) and KL Rahul (97*) stepped up, building a 164-run stand for the fourth wicket before Rahul and Hardik Pandya (11*) eventually finished the match off in style. However tomorrows final will be tough for both teams and different atmosphere but the unbeaten India team are favoured to win the final with their home advantage Indian run machine Virat Kohli is in top form having made world record of 50 ODI tons while paceman Mohammed Sami having his best figures of 7 for 53 in the New Zealand semi final is the highest wicket taker with 23 wickets and Kohli the stylish top order batter having totalled 711 runs in 10 matches with an average of 101.57 while highest wicket taker Sami with 23 wickets in 6 innings with an average of 9.13 and these two players are the key attraction of this final.
The skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill two openers are very aggressive mood during the first power play and both of them always thrash the frontline bowlers and this strength is the key factor for Indians while Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer,K.L Rahul are in good form while two spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav could be dangerous for any batter .The Indian pacemen Jasprit Bumrah,Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Sami have the task to remove top order Australian batsmen in this final .
Australia led by Pat Cummins have the services of David Warner,Travis Head the two openers ,Michell Marsh,Steve Smith the experienced former Skipper and all rounder Glen Maxwell are their batters to build up the innings. Maxwell played an unforgettable innings of unbeaten 201 against Afghanistan which is the only double ton at this world cup while Marcus Stoinis, or Marnus Labuschagne can get a place at this final while leg spinner Adam Zampa the second highest wicket taker with 22 wickets is the most successful spinner of the side and Maxwell and Travis are part time bowlers .Mitchell Starc and Jos Hazelwood two seamers wanted to get early wickets like in the semi finals and a good fight can be expected.
Tickets have been sold out for this final while spectators from all the Indian States arrived in Ahmadabad today .All past captains of the test Nations have been invited to see this final . Both teams India and Australia had two training sessions yesterday before picking the two teams.
