UNP Constitution should be amended before country’s Constitution – Wajira

United National Party (UNP) Chairman and Member of Parliament Wajira Abeywardena yesterday said that after changing the Constitution of the United National Party, the constitution of the country should also be changed.

Abeywardena said that the United National Party is committed to bringing about the necessary changes to move the country forward from the current situation and as the first step to that, it is hoped to hold a Party Convention and change the party Constitution.

He was speaking at the Galle and Habaraduwa Party members meeting.

“Our leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, is working to rebuild a divided and destroyed nation. We are also planning to amend the party Constitution in July. After that, the country’s Constitution should be changed. A good political system and a good Constitution are needed to rebuild a ruined country,” he said.
